How to use your @monbusho.org mail account (Webmail and POP3)

Welcome to "Monbusho (Monbukagakusho) dot Org" Webmail.

In order to use Monbusho.org mail features (IMAP, POP3, SMTP and WebMail) you need a separate login which has to be made manually by us.

If you already have a @monbusho email account, just go to

to log in and use it.

Using this "Monbumail" feature, you will be able to read and write Japanese with no worry of "mojibake" anywhere, and the interface can remain in English or any other language you choose. We recommend this site for general mail use. You will still need to use the 2nd alternative below in order to change your email password.

The second alternative is this site:

You will need internet port 2095 open to use this. It should be fine from your internet connection at home, but may be blocked if you access from work or school (ask your network admin about this, or just use the "monbumail" page above, it can be used from any internet connection).

Using this second alternative, you can choose from your choice of 3 webmail clients, and change your webmail password, as well as set forwarding options for your mail, and "out of office" auto-reply settings. However, this second alternative may not be so good if you are using email in Japanese.

If you do not have an email account yet, but would like one, Please donate first. Any amount is ok, even a dollar or two or a few hundred yen. This site costs us more money to run (hosting and domain registration) than we have recieved in donations, and we ask your help here. As for the admins on the page, they get no money.

Mail settings for email client software (Outlook etc):
User name: your full email address
Password: your email password
Mail server (imap, pop and smtp): mail.monbusho.org

In brief, our email is VERY good quality compared with other (nearly) free email systems. You can use it from the web anywhere in the world, or from your favourite POP3 email client like Outlook Express etc etc... Also, within reason there is no limit on your mailbox size. Default account size is 100MB, please ask us if you need more, and we can expand it for you. (The only thing we ask, is that you dont leave junk emails on our server, or use it as a mail backup site).
